The Position

Our roster has an opening with your name on it

The Account Vertical is responsible for registration, authentication, user identity, and verification journeys. If you've registered, logged in, and managed your account on the platform, the engineering teams own this and more. You will be working specifically on the Protect pillar, ensuring accounts across the platform (Sportsbook, Casino, Racing, DFS) are safe and secure by detecting and preventing unauthorized activities. Technologies used include Java, Typescript (React), Python, Terraform on AWS (K8s, EKS, Lambdas, RDS Aurora, SNS, SQS).

As a software engineer, you will work in empowered, multidisciplinary teams, tackling complex challenges that provide the very best experiences and products for a growing community of millions of players.

You will use technology to solve straightforward problems, seeking input and guidance from team members. Responsibilities include creating or improving small tools or applications, turning defined designs into code, and delivering it on schedule. You will write secure, stable, testable, maintainable code with minimal defects, and be proficient in a broad range of data structures and algorithms. Participation in team design, scoping, and prioritization discussions is expected. You will learn the business context and technologies behind your team's software, work effectively with other team members, and identify opportunities or problems arising from technical decisions. You will invent, refine, and develop solutions to ensure they meet customer needs and team goals.

Your work will consistently be of high quality. You will solve difficult problems, applying appropriate technologies and best practices. You will invent, design, and build software that is stable and performant. You will be proficient in a broad range of design approaches and know when it is appropriate to use them. Your solutions will be pragmatic, considering the legacy of the code produced. You will create flexible software without over-engineering, make appropriate trade-offs, reuse where possible, and be judicious about introducing dependencies. You will be efficient with resource usage (e.g., system hardware, database, memory/CPU, etc).

You will own parts of the product and technology, striving to become a subject matter expert. Responsibilities include writing simple and extendable code following standards and best practices, thoroughly testing your code, helping balance customer requirements with team requirements, and actively participating in the code review process, design discussions, team planning, and support ticket reviews. You will take on projects and make software enhancements that improve the team’s software and processes. You will work to resolve the root cause of complex problems, leaving software better and easier to maintain. You will estimate stories/tasks accurately and deliver them on time, keeping up to date with industry tools, utilities, and open-source frameworks. Most importantly, you will be humble, pragmatic, self-managed, thirsty for knowledge, never satisfied, and always challenging the norm. You will be responsible for the state of the code you inherit and produce.

• Experience and passion working with web libraries and frameworks, such as React, Typescript, and/or Bootstrap.
• Experience writing distributed, highly scalable and available backend systems & APIs using Java or similar programming languages.
• A fundamental understanding of data structures and algorithms.
• Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive.
• Demonstrated abilities driving operational excellence and software best practices.
• Experience with testing concepts, test tools, and integrating testing and best practices in the SDLC.
• Desire to learn and develop your skills through a growth mindset.
• Passion for working within a fast-paced environment and ability to adapt to change.
• BA/BS degree in Computer Science or related software engineering field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 2+ years of relevant work experience.

Salary Range: $102,000 - $140,000, depending on relevant experience, location, business needs, and market demand. This role may offer short-term or long-term incentive compensation, including, but not limited to, cash bonuses and stock program participation.
