Role Overview:
As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the success of the Product Engineering team, overseeing its performance in feature delivery, quality, operational excellence, and team growth. This position involves close collaboration with tech leads, product managers, and senior engineers, providing both technical guidance and context for decision-making.

Responsibilities:

  • Accountability for the overall performance of the product engineering team (velocity, quality, operational excellence, hiring, retention, growth, and well-being)
  • Collaborate with tech leads and product managers to guide technical decisions
  • Provide technical mentorship to senior engineers, fostering consensus on complex and ambiguous requirements
  • Iterate on team metrics and processes, ensuring cross-functional teams own the software they build
  • Partner with People Operations to manage team performance
  • Shape the engineering culture and continuously recruit top-tier engineering talent
  • Manage a growing team and create paths for individual contributor growth

Requirements:

  • 12+ years of experience working with top-tier product engineering teams, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality software to production
  • 6+ years as an engineering manager
  • Proficiency in at least one language ecosystem (Python, Ruby, Java, Kotlin, TypeScript/JavaScript, Go)
  • Strong experience with relational databases
  • Hands-on experience developing in the cloud (preferably AWS) with container management (Kubernetes, ECS) and serverless architecture
  • Deep understanding of agile methodologies in practice
  • Expertise in all aspects of software delivery, including security, reliability, and trade-offs in production environments
  • Ability to foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture
