About the Job Help define the future of hardware development by building a collaboration platform for circuit designs, enabling the next generation of smart vehicles, IoT devices, rockets, medical devices, robotics, and much more.

Our client is building agile development tools for hardware designers, including a git-friendly translation layer and automated CI/CD test framework for native circuit designs. We help accelerate the time to market for hardware products by focusing on the hardware development and release process.

In this role, you will take major ownership of our full-stack web application, which includes collaborating closely with Product Management to architect & implement complex data rendering, user management, and novel features for hardware engineering teams. The initial role will be about 75/25 individual contributions to management projects and can optionally transition to increased management as the team grows.

If you are passionate about sorting out complex software architecture decisions, working across multidisciplinary teams, and shipping great software, this could be a great role for you.

Our Stack

  • Gitea application soft fork
  • Go (server-side)
  • Vue/JS Front-end
  • Playwright for e2e testing
  • GitHub actions and self-hosted Drone for CI/CD
  • Docker Compose & Terraform for deployment
  • AWS
  • Postgres DB
  • Rust - backend utility functions

About the Role This is a high-impact role that comes with significant autonomy and requires a self-driven, collaborative person. You will be focused on owning major components of our application architecture, and should be able to:

  • Work closely with product management to architect & implement novel solutions for rendering hardware CAD designs
  • Coordinate with our extended software development team to identify gaps and extend our test coverage
  • Engage with open-source communities used in our software to upstream relevant changes, and influence key decisions
  • Debug failure conditions & communicate relevant information
  • Implement solutions that cross front-end, back-end, and infrastructure teams

Example Projects

  • Optimize delivery & rendering of complex CAD documents (100k+ elements)
  • Implement a 3D rendering engine for PCBs
  • Coordinate with front-end team to support e2e testing infrastructure (Playwright)

Relevant Skills You don’t necessarily have to be proficient in all of these, but the more you know, the better:

  • Go, JavaScript, Vue, Rust programming language
  • Common web architectures + interfaces
  • Hiring and project management
  • Docker and Kubernetes

This is a remote-first role. However, we have flex offices in Boston, MA and San Francisco, CA. You are generally expected to be available between 1pm and 5pm EST for any team meetings and/or discussions, otherwise, work hours are flexible.

Benefits Supportive and smart colleagues, flexible work, opportunity to make a big impact, competitive salary & equity, health, dental, vision, generous PTO, home office stipend.
