About the job:

We are on a mission to leverage AI for the comprehensive understanding and structuring of medical data globally. Our focus starts with deciphering clinician notes within electronic health records, using a deep learning engine to automate patient record translation into healthcare billing codes. This process currently costs hospitals in the US over $15 billion annually, with substantial additional costs due to errors and denied claims.

As a venture-backed company, we recently completed a Series B round of financing.

We are seeking a Software Engineer (Backend/Data) to contribute to our core data products. We are looking for team members based in the San Francisco Bay Area who are eager to delve into building and supporting scalable machine learning pipelines. Our ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative environment that values flexibility and iterative development.

Your role and responsibilities will include:

  • Developing data infrastructure to ingest, sanitize, and standardize various types of medical data, including electronic health records, journals, medical ontologies, crowd-sourced labeling, and other human inputs.
  • Building efficient and user-friendly interfaces to access this data.
  • Establishing infrastructure to scale up data ingestion and support large-scale cloud-based machine learning.

We are looking for a teammate with:

  • 2+ years of experience in software engineering in a production setting.
  • Relevant experience in backend development, integrations, data pipelines, and infrastructure projects.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to apply first principles thinking.
  • Proficiency in algorithms, data structures, and related computer science principles.
  • Hands-on experience in backend coding and/or systems design using industry best practices.
  • Effective communication and exceptional collaboration skills.

Bonus points if you have:

  • Proficiency in Python or another modern backend language.
  • Experience with healthcare data management and/or HIPAA compliance.
  • Familiarity with managing large-scale data labeling and acquisition.

Compensation:
