About the Role:
The Senior Platform Engineer at our client's company will play a pivotal role in the early stages of their platform engineering team. This role is versatile and can encompass responsibilities typically associated with DevOps, SRE, or Infrastructure titles. You will collaborate closely with a dedicated product team to design, implement, and enhance critical tooling and infrastructure. Your contributions will directly impact the scalability, observability, and operational efficiency of our platform.
Key Responsibilities:
- Simplify infrastructure complexities to maximize product engineering velocity, encompassing build speed, deployment efficiency, and cross-region availability.
- Influence the design and implementation of product aspects, ranging from data engineering infrastructure to overall architecture.
- Uphold high standards for infrastructure quality, organization, and discipline.
- Advocate for and implement best practices such as Zero Trust networking and Service Level Objectives (SLOs).
- Proactively shape and enhance our engineering culture while balancing rapid product development with stable platform management.
Requirements:
- 7+ years of experience in high-performing engineering teams, consistently delivering quality software to production environments.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with product engineers to enhance engineering practices iteratively.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language ecosystem (Python, Ruby, Java, TypeScript/JavaScript, Go) with the capability to contribute to product engineering code and develop custom tools.
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi, or CDK.
- Deep expertise in cloud environments, preferably AWS, including container management solutions such as Kubernetes or ECS.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to independently research, design, and implement complex solutions in the infrastructure space.
- Thought leadership and awareness of industry trends in CNCF technologies, CI/CD, networking, security, and vendor landscapes.
- Clear strategic approach to structuring cloud ecosystems to optimize security, velocity, and reliability.
Compensation:
- Salary Range: $180,000 - $205,000 annually
- Signing Bonus
- Equity Grant: Determined based on role level, offering substantial potential upside due to the company's early-stage growth.
